Uncertainty and adaptation (15 march 2007)
Projections of future climate change are plagued with uncertainties, which cause
difficulties for planners taking decisions on adaptation measures. Dr. S. Dessai
from the UK Tyndall Instute for Climate Research will provide an overview of
tools and methods that allow the quantification of uncertainties in climate
change projections and the identification of adaptation strategies that are
robust (i.e. insensitive) to those uncertainties.
The key note presentation of Dr. S. Dessai is intented for researchers and students in the field of climate change. The UK Tyndall Institute is an example of cooperation between different climate research institutes in the UK, comparable with initiatives such as the programma "Klimaat voor Ruimte" in the Netherlands.

Nederland Later (22 maart 2007)
Nederland Later is een nieuw project van het MNP waar in scenario-vorm gekeken
wordt naar de toekomst van Nederland op de lange termijn. Het project heeft qua
methodologie en inhoudelijke focus duidelijke verschillen met de WLO studie
(scenario studie naar de Welvaart en LeefOmgeving van Nederland in 2040). Verder
is het de bedoeling dat de klimaatdimensie veel nadrukkelijker wordt meegenomen
in de toekomstprojecties. Op 22 maart licht Willem Ligtvoet van het MNP dit
project toe bij Alterra tijdens een lunchbijeenkomst.
